The future?

I found an interesting video about a possible future. I suspect people's reaction to the idea will split very strongly on an age basis. The young (anyone brought up post-web) will think it can happen, and most of the non-young will fail to understand what it's talking about. Me? I think prediction is hard; especially about the future.
