Computer Science is not ICT

There's a great deal of concern these days, and not just in the UK, about the upcoming shortage of scientists and engineers. Many people I know in the semiconductor industry and academia share this concern and trying to finds ways to encourage school kids to study mathematics and science to 'A' level and thence to study the hard sciences or engineering at university.

I've just been referred to one initiative, cs4fn (computer science for fun), run out of Queen Mary, University of London. There is an excellent magazine which goes with the website - available on paper and pdf. It should raise interest in computer science, and help inform its audience that "computer science is no more about computers than the music industry is about microphones".
