The Art of Party Walls

There's an interesting post on "We Make Money not Art" about party walls.

It's interesting to speculate about the whether the original article would be more or less interesting if the translation had been used. I guess "Medianeras" gives an air of the exotic, and while "Party Walls" is dead-dull (especially to anyone who has had to draw up a "Party Wall Agreement", "The Art of Party Walls" is intriguing.

I'm also interested that it seems to have taken some time for the English translation to become apparent. The WMMnA article that I picked up on (thanks to Boing Boing) gives a description of the usage of the word rather than the translation. A couple of the pages authored by
José Antonio Millán now contain the term "Party Wall" but I suspect these are more recent additions.

The Art of Party Walls seems to be an idea whose time has come. Xenmate created a Flikr group The Unconsciousus Art of Demolition at about the time that the WMMnA article appeared.
