Podcasts
I said in my first posting to this blog "It was podcasting and Melvyn Bragg wot done it". I think I should fill in the details.
BBC Radio 4 ("The Home Service" for those old enough to have lived through World War 2") has an excellent programme, "In Our Time", presented by Melvyn Bragg. It covers a broad range of cultural topics from history, through mathematics, to literature. Each edition covers a single topic using a small group of specialists who are lead through their subject by Bragg. The specialists are always real experts with a great in-depth of knowledge. I would say that nine times out of ten the programme is of great interest to me. I think the show broadcasts between 9 and 10 one midweek morning a week - maybe with a repeat one evening later in the week. Anyhow, I used to catch a bit of show occasionally on my way into the office. Then I discovered I could listen to the show - when I wanted - on line. However, I didn't really like the experience of listening to the show on my PC which lead me to buy an MP3 player and experience the joys of podcasting.
